WILD SHORE 2024 SEASON - OCTOBER 10 - 19
Join Wild Shore for a dynamic and engaging program exploring Alaska’s origins and its connections to contemporary American culture. Now in its eleventh season Wild Shore is proud to feature violinist and ethnomusicologist, Dr. Heidi Aklaseaq Senungetuk, with a program built around both the Alaskan premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Raven Chacon’s “For Zitkála-Šá” and Senungetuk’s deeply personal and introspective interpretation of George Rochberg’s “Caprice Variations” for solo violin.
With ancestral roots in Wales, Alaska and raised in Fairbanks, Senungetuk will be joined by fellow Alaskans Dr. Miriam English Ward (viola), Charles Akert (cello), Katie Cox (Flute), Conrad Winslow (piano), and Andie Tanning (violin). Complementing the Chacon and Rochberg, the ensemble will present music by Kanaka Maoli composer Leilahua Lanzilotti and Brooklyn-based Timo Andres.
Wild Shore is thrilled to be expanding its concert tour to from Homer all the way Fairbanks this season, and will be offering educational events for students along the way. For audiences outside of Alaska, live streams and radio broadcasts are available for select events. Please see below for more information!
